| Made by | Vectric |
|---|---|
| What it does | Design (CAD), Toolpaths (CAM) |
| Runs | Desktop |
| Operating system | Windows |
| Free option | No free version; a free trial is offered |
| Paid | VCarve Desktop $349, VCarve Pro $699 (USD list on vectric.com/llms.txt). The same list gives £275 / £540 and €330 / €660. The purchase page says "Buy once, own it forever" and does not show a dollar amount in the page text. |
| Licence | One-time purchase |
| Trial | Free trial offered; length not stated. The FAQ says the trial can use all functions except saving toolpaths and some exports. Pro trials also block gadgets. |
| V-carving | Yes, Desktop and Pro. The compare row tooltip lists chamfer, fluting, moulding, PhotoVCarving, prism, texture, V-carving and sketch carving. |
| 3D | Desktop and Pro import a single third-party 3D model and include 3D machining (roughing, finishing and rest machining). They do not include 3D modeling. |
| Machines | Not tied to one maker |
Worth knowing
- VCarve Desktop is limited to a 24" x 24" work area; VCarve Pro is unlimited.
- VCarve inlays are listed for Pro, not Desktop.
- Desktop to Pro: "simply paying the difference between the two products".
- Laser toolpaths are an add-on (the Laser Module), not included. Spark includes them.
- "Any major version of the software released within 12 months of you purchasing the software is supplied free of charge."
- Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10 or 11. The FAQ says this can include Macs using Parallels, with limited technical support.
- A licence can be installed on up to 3 devices for a single user.
- A Makerspace Edition, built on VCarve Pro, is US$99 a year for qualifying makerspaces, for up to 5 machines at the makerspace.
- PhotoVCarve and Cut3D still have product pages with Buy buttons, and neither page shows a price in the text. They are not in the compare list (Spark, Cut2D Desktop, Cut2D Pro, VCarve Desktop, VCarve Pro, Aspire). The system requirements page says much of their functionality has been adopted by VCarve and Aspire.
- vectric.com/llms.txt says these list prices can change and may vary by region or promotion.
