Kits, semi-assembled or ready to run: how desktop CNCs arrive

What each maker says about assembly, from fully assembled machines to DIY kits, and which pages don't say.

Most desktop CNC routers arrive in a box, and how much building is left to you varies a lot. Some come fully assembled, some have the main parts already put together, and some are kits you build from the frame up. Makers describe this in their own words. For 29 of the 43 machines on this site, nothing about assembly is recorded yet. Here's what the others' pages say.

Shipped assembled or pre-assembled

Two pages say the machine arrives assembled or pre-assembled:

Reading the assembly times

The times are the makers' own figures. None of them were timed for this site, and a maker's "20 minutes" may not count unpacking, levelling the machine or setting up the software. Larger machines also need a bench or stand that can take their weight; the small shops guide lists the weights makers publish.
